27 2011 September 27. The Museum of Jewish Heritage and Holocaust hosted a memorial session dedicated to Babi Yar. The event was organized by the Russian Jewish Congress, Russian Holocaust Center and Holocaust Fund, International Association of Former Inmates of Camps and Ghettos, as well as the Embassy of Ukraine in Russia. The memorial session was attended by H. E. Ambassador of Israel in Russia Mrs. Dorit Golender, H. E. Ambassador of Germany in Russia Mr. Ulrich Brandenburg, H. E. Ambassador of Ukraine in Russia Mr. Vladimir Elchenko, President of International Association of Former Inmates of Camps and Ghettos Mr. Efim Gologorsky, former ghetto inmate and partisan Semeon Dudik, and others. The event was moderated by Professor Ilya Altman, co-chairman of the Russian Holocaust Center. The event included the screening of movies and presentation of documents on Babi Yar. The memorial session drew the attention of three Russian TV channels.

Video conference between Moscow, Kiev, and Astana “Babi Yar tragedy: Lessons of the past” was held in RIA news agency and attended by Professor Ilya Altman, co-chairman of the Russian Holocaust Center and a scientific supervisor of the Museum of Jewish Heritage and Holocaust, President of the Russian Jewish Congress Yuri Kanner and other persons.
Professor Altman stressed that topic of the Great Patriotic War has the potential to unify the peoples living on the territory of the former USSR.
The conference was attended by the secretary of the Public Committee “Babi Yar” Vitali Nakhmanovich, Director of the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Research Anatoli Podolski, H. E. Ambassador of Israel in Kazakhstan Israel Mei-Ami, and others.

23 2011 September 23. The Museum of Jewish Heritage and Holocaust hosted a memorial session dedicated to the memory of the Holocaust in Lithuania. The session was conducted with an eye to Holocaust Year declared in Lithuania and organized by the Russian Holocaust Center and the Embassy of Lithuania in Russia; it was moderated by the by Professor Ilya Altman, co-chairman of the Russian Holocaust Center and a scientific supervisor of the Museum of Jewish Heritage and Holocaust. The session was attended by more than 120 former ghetto inmates and diplomats. H. E. Ambassador of Israel in Russia Mrs. Dorit Golender featured presentation related to her own family’s story during the Holocaust in Lithuania and involved gratitude to those Lithuanians who rescued Jews during the Holocaust. H. E. Lithuanian Minister (Ambassador) in Russia Mr. Andrjus Pulokas talked about Holocaust Year events in Lithuania. Especially touching was the talk of Samuil Klebansky, a child survivor from Kovno ghetto. Jan-Erick Dubbelman, in charge of international programs of the Anne Frank House spoke about futile and protracted cooperation with the Russian Holocaust Center. Representative of UN information center in Moscow spoke about the involvement of this organization in Holocaust commemoration in Russia.

05 2011 September 5. A group of students from Heidelberg University met Russian history students at the Museum of Jewish Heritage and Holocaust. The meeting was chaired by Professor Ilya Altman, co-chairman of the Russian Holocaust Center. The meeting was arranged in a form of a round table. German students were briefed on Holocaust commemoration and education in Russia with an emphasis on international contest of student works, whose winners present their reports at a conference at the UNESCO.
